After three rounds of review feedback and one last-minute WCAG contrast fix, the Read & Adapt overlay is live on the Chrome Web Store today. The feature wraps AssisT’s existing TTS engine with a floating, keyboard-navigable panel that persists across page navigations — the thing patrons have been asking for since beta.
What shipped in v1: overlay toggle via Alt+R, per-site font size memory, and reduced-motion support. What we deferred: the drag-to-reposition handle (z-index wars with iframe-heavy sites) and the colour-filter presets. Both are scoped for v1.1. Thanks to everyone in the Discord who stress-tested the contrast ratios on dark-mode pages.
